Attainment of Cartographic Data

After the surveying, acquisition, and the reunion of all existing cartographic data for each area, a digital cartographic data base was established for Machadinho d'Oeste.

This involved digitalization, line adjustment, polygonalization, and rotalization - all carried out using the digital mapping techniques of geographic information systems (GIS).

The agrarian limits of the study area (properties, forest reserves, urban areas, etc.) were digitalyzed.  Each one of the polygons for this data base received a "label" corresponding to the numerical data base.

This cartographic data base is regularly updated through the analysis of Landsat/TM5 satellite images, from which information on land use, the evolution of deforestation, and the effective use of lots is extracted.
