Socio-Economic Digital Cartography of Northeastern Brazilian States
In this project, all of the county divisions of the Northeastern Brazilian States
were digitalized using digital cartography of the Geographic Information Systems
developed by the National Space Research Institute of São José dos Campos, SP.
A routine was developed through the INTERNET and/or RENPAC to make socio-economic maps for recovery of any information (qualitative and/or quantitative)
which has a municipal base in a remote data bank, it's statistical treatement and it's spacialization in a local GIS information plan.
Hundreds of maps were made and thousands are virtually possible. As an example
some of the information plans available at NMA are shown for all the Northeastern States.
The system presents two major interest for planning activities:
- The regional socio-economic cartographic, usually only available in the
numerical form (as an example the 10 first maps)
- The visualization of synthesis maps, unique through crossing of prior
thematic maps using GIS routines (as an example 3 last maps)
This work was developed by Mateus Batistella and Evaristo Eduardo de Miranda.
